I will start by saying that I do not support Dr, Alt's plan in PA. 1st PA did not need to jump in hip deep at the start : they could have gone BACK TO the old restriction of not shooting spikes : deer must have a "Y". My biggest objection to the current rule is the hunter's inability to identify a legal buck. This produces several problems which the PA GC ignors : 1- hunters shoot , then look, especially while running doe season concurent with buck - which I also do not support. 2- legal bucks walk away while good hunters search for a hard to see brow point. 3- many will quit hunting especially young adult [ 17 yrs & older ] who have not yet developed needed skill , 4- many people DO NOT have all season to scout & hunt a buck - many are tied to a job so tight that hunting may consist of only a day or two. The 2004 season at our camp was a sucess ONLY because two young hunters got deer, our adults were only were flustrated at the way this has affected the way we hunt. The G.C. has taken the posture that this program is a sucess - truth is unlikely to come from that source, we need the sportsman's group statewide to speak out : strength in numbers is the only way,
